EU/Presidency: PSD opposition invites party MEPs to attend caucus meetings

Lisbon, Jan. 7, 2021 (Lusa) - The PSD parliamentary opposition group has invited the party's MEPs to attend meetings of the Social Democratic Caucus in the coming weeks, a way of marking the Portuguese EU Council presidency.

The initiative starts with Paulo Rangel, head of the delegation of PSD MEPs, who will be present at the next meeting of the caucus on 14 January at 10:30.

"Over the coming weeks, and to mark the Portuguese EU Council presidency, the PSD Parliamentary Group will devote part of the usual bench meetings to a cycle of conferences on European affairs, in an initiative that also aims to create good relations between the parliamentary group and the PSD in the European Parliament," he said in a statement today.

After the conference "Talking about Europe with Paulo Rangel - The Portuguese EU Council presidency", sessions with the other MEPs elected by the PSD (Lídia Pereira, José Manuel Fernandes, Maria da Graça Carvalho, Álvaro Amaro and Cláudia Monteiro de Aguiar) are scheduled, with no date yet announced.

Portugal took over its fourth presidency of the EU Council on 1 January, which will run for the first half of 2021, succeeding Germany and preceding Slovenia, under the slogan "Time to act: for a fair, green and digital recovery".
