EU/Presidency: Costa asks for feedback on recovery plan

Lisbon, Feb. 16, 2021 (Lusa) - Portugal's prime minister, António Costa, called on the Portuguese to participate with contributions to the government's Recovery and Resilience Plan, which was put out for public consultation on Tuesday.

"Tthe Recovery and Resilience Plan, the 'vitamin' that will help us out of the crisis and make the country more resilient, green and digital is available for consultation. Consult and participate. Make your contribution to the future of Portugal," Costa wrote on Twitter.

The Recovery and Resilience Plan that Portugal presented to access EU funds to deal with the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic foresees 36 reforms and 77 investments in the social, climate and digital areas, corresponding to a total of €13.9 billion euros in grants.

After a first draft presented to the European Commission last October and a process of talks with Brussels, the Portuguese government today put the preliminary and summarised version of this plan out for public consultation.

According to the government, three "structuring dimensions" were defined: resilience, climate transition and digital transition, to which €13.9 billion of non-refundable grants from European funds will be allocated.

The document also provides for €2.7 billion in loans.
