EU/Presidency: Justice ministry holds intellectual property debate Thursday


Lisbon, Feb. 9, 2021 (Lusa) - The Portuguese ministry of justice and the National Property Office are organising a High-Level Conference on intellectual property in the context of the digital switchover next Thursday under the Portuguese presidency of the Council of the EU.

According to a press release, the conference on "The Metamorphosis of Intellectual Property in the Age of Digital Transition", will be attended by "prestigious national and international figures in the field of intellectual property and innovation".

Under the motto "Remembering the past, acting in the present and reflecting on the challenges of the future", the speakers "will offer an early vision of the future challenges of intellectual property in the age of digital transformation", taking into account their past experience.

The same note said that during the conference, which will take place remotely, participants will have the chance to "access a virtual space dedicated to networking and o get involved in possible strategic partnerships".

The Portuguese presidency of the Council of the European Union aims to promote "the digital transformation of businesses and the awareness that digital should be seen as an element that aggregates opportunities, bringing citizens and services closer together".

This High-Level Conference will be attended by, among others, justice minister Francisca Van Dunem, culture minister Graça Fonseca and internal market commissioner Thierry Breton.
