epa08549526 A handout composite picture of several images made 30 May 2020 and made available 16 July 2020 by the European Space Agency, ESA, showing Solar Orbiter's first view of the Sun. The Solar Orbiter mission is facing the Sun from within the orbit of Mercury at its closest approach. ESA issued a statement saying the Extreme Ultraviolet Imager (EUI) on ESA's Solar Orbiter spacecraft shows the 'Sun's appearance at a wavelength of 17 nanometers, which is in the extreme ultraviolet region of the electromagnetic spectrum'. ESA further said 'images at this wavelength reveal the upper atmosphere of the Sun, the corona, with a temperature of around 1 million degrees. EUI takes full disk images (top L) using the Full Sun Imager (FSI) telescope, as well as high resolution images using the HRIEUV telescope.' EPA/ESA HANDOUT HANDOUT EDITORIAL USE ONLY/NO SALES
