The Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin inhabits the coastal waters of the Eastern Indian and Western Pacific oceans and they are majorly threatened by water pollution, habitat loss, and coastal development. In 2015, the Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin was classed as 'vulnerable' on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of threatened species because of their declining population.
